Award Tour

The season is still months away, but to preserve some of the R-Time lore, as well as refresh your memories, here is a rundown of the various trophies available to competitors:

Isiah Thomas Trophy
Even professional sports leagues feature executives whose track records demonstrate a pervasive failure to grasp important concepts- relative value, effective draft strategies, depth management, and budgeting come to mind. Names on this ignominious list include Jim Bowden in MLB, Matt Millen in the NFL, Mike Milbury in the NHL, and of course Isiah. Given the proclivities of these individuals to just not understand the requisite skils, it is no surprise that in a league made up entirely of UD graduates, a similar phenomenon plagues the ranks of team owners. Each year, the Isiah Thomas Trophy is bestowed on the individual who drafts, trades, and waives his way into the basement of the league standings.
Past winners:
2008 - Mike Manos

DeSean Jackson Trophy
Even non-fantasy fans are familiar with DeSean Jackson's penchant for a spectacular moment of failure, something he has done in grand fashion at both the amateur and pro level. Sometimes in fantasy football, a minor decision can have major consequences- failure to make a roster change for a late injury, a particularly short-sighted trade, or a regrettable decision to start one player over another can have major ramifications.
Past winners:
2008 - Rob Green

Donovan McNabb Trophy
Inattentiveness is the reason for most underperforming teams- a team that does not adjust for bye weeks, injuries, or obvious bad match-ups is a sitting duck in a competitive league like R-Time. For this reason, the McNabb Trophy is arguably the most shameful award the commissioner can bestow upon a manager.
Past winners:
2008 - Brian Quinn

Barack Hussein Obama Trophy
Our 44th President embodies dedication, insight, and most of all success, so it is clear that the prestigious owner of the year award be named in perpetuity for Obama.
Past winners:
2008 - Peter Schaffer

Commissioner's Cup
The Commissioner's Cup is awarded to the team with the best regular season record, tiebreakers provided. Beginning in 2009, the Commissioner's Cup will definitively recognize the best performing team throughout the season, as each team's schedule will include one game against each opponent. Also in 2009, for the first time the Commissioner's Cup winner will receive a cash reward equal to the winner of the DoJoJa Cup.
Past winners:
2007 - Peter Schaffer (Beer Die Champ)
2008 - Peter Schaffer (Beer to the Dean)

DoJoJa Cup
The reason for why the playoff championship is named after the troika who ruled the Davis Center with an iron fist in 2006-2007 is lost to the annals of time. Like the question of what exactly Lord Stanley of Preston did during his Governor-Generalship, it is a moot point- the DoJoJa Cup is the ultimate prize for teams competing in R-Time.
Past winners:
2007 - Joshua Bolden (C-Burglars)
2008 - Peter Schaffer (Beer to the Dean)

The Double
European soccer teams that win both their top flight domestic league and domestic cup competition are recognized as dominant- accordingly, teams in R-Time who win both the Commissioner's Cup and DoJoJa Cup are honored as winners of the elusive Double. Thus far, only the 2008 Beer to the Dean squad has captured Double honors.
